Once upon a time my husband bought me a really (I mean REALLY) nice ring to celebrate our 13th anniversary. I went out of town a few months later. As I was checking into my hotel, the desk clerk looked at my hand and said, "WOW! Somebody REALLY loves you!!!"
And while somebody really does love me, my first thought was, "What does love have to do with it?" When I said that to my friend she could not stop laughing. Perhaps she had visions of Tina Turner singing. If someone had a bunch of money, a ring like that might not mean more than, "I think she'd like this." Or it could be leverage for something else. On the other hand, somebody might REALLY love you but may be lacking in money to "show it".
So, I'd like to invite you to read another blogger's account of what I think is a demonstration of true love.

Mommy! Mommy! Did you know about this convertible???
Awww, don't I look cute in the mirror?
What do you mean I can't go for a ride? I'm sure the car seat will fit JUST FINE in here.
We had a fantastic 4th of July, but Lydia KNEW what the day was all about. She chose to celebrate her own Independence by putting on her shirt & shorts by herself. Oh, she was kind enough to humor her mother by letting her pick out the clothes and hair bow, but Lydia was in Do It Yourself mode this morning. After getting dressed, we headed to IHOP for breakfast (not in the convertible).
*****This post is out of sequence. The post that follows is of more recent events*******
Lydia woke up EARLY this morning. Perhaps she knew it was a special day, and she wanted to get an early start. One year ago on August 6th, we met for the first time. Our guide, Xixi told us, "You picked the baby, the baby didn't pick you," and gently let us know that our babies might not be very excited about meeting us. Considering the enormity of the situation, I think we all handled it fairly well. It's one year later, and while the outfit she was wearing then fits better now, the biggest improvement is the smile. How blessed am I? Very, very blessed, and oh so very, very grateful for all that God has done for me.
Loving my squeaky shoes. They didn't fall off a single time today.
